A concise selection of buildings, twenty designs, conceived to shelter animals is a snapshot that presents and reflects the evolution of our relationship with animals through some examples of contemporary architecture.

Man has always exploited and tamed animals, and has built for them simple enclosures or more complex buildings. Through the shapes, materials and different approach of their designers, this book shows how architecture generates spaces that can foster the well-being of the animals they will shelter.
