REA project (Network of Excellence for the internationalization of training in the field of Architecture), funded by  Cariplo Foundation, is an extraordinary and innovative formative and research experience thanks to which 3 different Schools of Architecture have consolidated a global scientific community. The exchange of knowledge - which works involving researchers, teachers and students and that realizes in the form of a (post)modern 19th century Grand Tour, the milestone for the cultural education of the Masters – involved from 2011 to 2016 the Schools of Pavia, Politecnico di Milano – Polo Territoriale di Piacenza and Brescia. Thanks to workshops, summer and winter school, organized in the 3 branches of the consortium - in addition to Tenerife, Shanghai and Seville - virtuous forms of collaboration and cultural exchanges have developed and consolidated with many universities at international level in order to support conferences, conferences, exhibitions and degree thesis. The construction of a network of experiences made possible to test the progress of the architectural discipline on the most current issues, confronting different tables, multiplying the interlocutors. The book tells the story of this multifaceted and fascinating journey, accompanying the reader on a trip of multiple destinations using projects, drawings, reflections and essays as guides. With the awareness that every goal reached, each chapter of the volume, is an open door that invites us to continue on our journey.

Barbara Angi (1976), architect, PhD in Architecture and Urban Design (SSD ICAR/14). She is adjunct professor of course “Architecture and Composition 2” at the Combined Bachelor and Master Degree Courses in Architectural Engineering of the University of Brescia,. Since 2008, she is a research fellow at the University of Brescia. The research activity is consolidated through participation in national and international research projects including the program “Dote Ricercatori” financed by the Lombardy region, on the issues of ‘combined’ and ‘adaptive’ redevelopment of residential buildings and built environment with particular reference to relationship between architectural typology and constructive technology. She teaches at University of Brescia, and, first, at University Iuav of Venice in the Master’s degree course of Architecture for Sustainability and Architecture and Construction. The teaching activity is also very busy with the correlation of master degree thesis (more than 50 followed so far) and participation in international workshops on architectural design as a didactic and scientific coordinator. Since 2011, she participates in the teaching and research activities of project REA, Network of Excellence for Internationalization of education in the field of Architecture, promoted by Fondazione Cariplo. She take part in national and international architectural competitions. Her projects have been exhibited at the International Architecture Exhibition of Venice, at the Festival of Architecture in Parma, SAIE People meet Innovation of Bologna, the Prize Piccinato, design strategies for the future, and published in international magazines such as The New York Times. She is the author of numerous scientific publications in national and international level on issues of architecture and urban redevelopment. She participates in many national and international conferences and cultural events. She is author of the book Amnistia per l’esistente.

Michele Roda (1978), architect, carries out teaching and research activities at the AUIC School of Politecnico di Milano, dealing mainly with architectural and urban design issues. In the field, he coordinates many international design workshops in the Piacenza Campus. He writes in newspapers and magazines and is a member of Il Giornale dell'Architettura editorial board. As designer, he projects and builds mainly social housing areas within wide urban regeneration processes. He has collaborations with public companies and institutions.
